Coast to coast with divine Love

In The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says: “Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full. There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness. Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort” (p. 210). My husband and I make an effort to pray with these truths and others each day, along with the Christian Science Bible Lesson, and then put those prayers into action.

With our thought full of love for adventure and the understanding of God’s protective law of harmony, my husband and I entertained the idea of riding from Seattle to Boston on a tandem bicycle. We decided to ride unsupported, which means we did not enlist the help of a group to haul our gear or make arrangements for hotels. We knew, however, that we would be supported all the way by divine Love.

At the time, we didn’t own a tandem bicycle, and we could only imagine what a journey across the United States would look like. However, a seed had been planted in our thought, and we let that idea take root. We researched and bought a tandem bike that was sturdy enough to make the trek. Bike maps were purchased and the training started.
