Incapacitating illness healed
Early one morning I awoke with an intense headache. I had never felt anything approaching such pain. I managed to get downstairs to sit in a stuffed chair. Then, within a few minutes severe dizziness set in. I tried to walk and was unable to do so, since I barely had any control over my legs.
During these first few minutes the thought that I’d be permanently in a wheelchair presented itself, and that all of the activities I enjoyed outside of our home would come to an end. Then I remembered the many healings members of my family and I have had, which I feel can be attributed only to prayer. These include a healing of the last stages of cancer, as well as a healing of a punctured eyeball, in addition to instances of God’s provision evidenced in opportunities for employment for both my wife and me that completely changed our lives(see The Christian Science Journal, February 2009). That reversed the darkness.
I also remembered the following statement by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, found on the walls of many Churches of Christ, Scientist: “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494). I realized that I had already experienced that to be true many times. Then, though my physical condition had not changed, my concern about what was happening disappeared.
