Prayer about God’s creatures brings freedom
I love my garden, and I enjoy plants that attract bees. In the spring I noticed some large bumblebees, busy at work on the early spring flowers. If it was warm enough during the day, I would leave open the doors that lead into the garden from my house. Occasionally, bumblebees and dragonflies come in and go out.
Part of my morning routine is to study the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly. After studying, I take a walk. When I put on my walking socks and shoes this particular day, I felt a sudden excruciating pain up the front of one of my legs. At this point, I have to admit that my immediate and only reaction was simply to grit my teeth until the pain had passed off. Then I got up and started on my walk. There was no pain now. However, as I walked, it became apparent that something more significant had happened to my leg than I had originally thought. At this point I decided I had better turn to prayer to seek relief.
As I usually do, I started my walk praying the Lord’s Prayer. It helps me keep my thought turned to God. I prayed out loud and spent time thinking deeply about each line.
