Christian Science: truth for everyone

When my brother and I were very young children, our mother did not own a car, so we all (along with my grandmother) took the streetcar to get to church and Sunday School. Our favorite cousins, who were not Christian Scientists, lived in the same area we did. They also took the streetcar, and they got off at the same stop as we did to go to their church.

One Sunday, when our cousins met us after church, they showed us photographs of paintings of Jesus, which they felt would help them believe in God. Then they asked what we thought God was like. We answered by telling them the seven synonymous terms for God that Mary Baker Eddy gives in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. These terms, which are either used or implied in the Bible, are Truth, Life, Love, Mind, Soul, Spirit, and Principle, and they helped us to know God and to understand His nature.
