Alcoholism healed

A long time ago, for a period of about 15 years, I quietly drank myself to sleep every night. I hated having this problem, and I quit drinking many times, only to come back and drink again. My husband tried to help me, but it didn’t seem to work. Alcoholism kept winning every battle I fought with it.

My husband had been raised in Christian Science, but like me, he was not practicing any religion. He started feeling the lack of God in our lives before I did, and he began to study the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly several times each week. I would help him by marking the appropriate citations for each Bible Lesson in his copy of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and sometimes we studied these citations together.

I witnessed a dramatic healing my husband had, and it changed my beliefs about God instantly, totally convincing me that God heals. My husband had twisted his ankle at work, and I was shocked to see him crawl into our house. I was very concerned and wanted to ice down his swollen ankle, but he calmly told me that all he wanted was his Science and Health book. He would not let me go upstairs to get it, insisting on climbing the stairs himself.
