Good reminder

Thanks to Tom Blair for his heartwarming article (“Pets and endless life,” February 3, 2014, Sentinel) about the love between him and his dog. I, too, have known the love of dogs, and it was good to be reminded that their beautiful qualities and individuality are eternal just as ours are. Many thanks to all who write and edit.

Cover inspiration

With this issue of the February 3, 2014, Sentinel—on the inside cover—you have added “Cover Inspiration.” Loved it, and trust you will continue to add this helpful feature. I also love the first article, “Ending the blame game” by Jill Gooding.

Thank you!

Children's spiritual qualities

I love your quote under “From this issue” inside the front cover of the January 13 & 20, 2014, issue, “The more we recognize and celebrate the spiritual qualities children express, the more their origin and God-bestowed nature will be revealed and their growth assured.” Those concepts you shared about recognizing and celebrating the spiritual qualities children express have been my guiding light in helping to raise my grandson and in thinking about and working with little children in kindergarten. You put my thoughts into words beautifully and lovingly.

Shared thoughts

Thinking about the goodness shared through the Sentinel articles, I also reflected on the good thoughts shared in the “add a comment” feature on JSH-Online. For example, after reading “Helping our children grow” by the Editors in the January 13 & 20, 2014, issue, I read the comments. The editorial brought out the thought of God’s angels protecting children and included a citation from Mary Baker Eddy’s Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures about the role of God’s angels; the comments brought out the thought of employing the citation in prayer for all children throughout the world. How grateful I am to all the writers of the Sentinel articles and to all who share their thoughts on the articles through the “add a comment” feature.

In awe

Thank you, David Fowler (“Goodbye self-righteousness, hello forgiveness,” Sentinel, January 13 & 20, 2014). For days now, I’ve been living in the light of this thought of releasing and freeing others “from the prison house of my cruel criticism.” I had never before seen so clearly how judgement and criticism are really a cruelty inflicted on others—even when it’s held silently within our own thought. And cleansing our thought of criticism lifts us into such blessings of love. I am in awe!
