Free from back pain
This testimony was originally written in Portuguese and published in the August 2014 German, French, Portuguese, and Spanish editions of The Herald of Christian Science.
Five years ago, I traveled to São Paulo on a long weekend to visit some relatives. On the day I was scheduled to return, around lunchtime, I was taken by such a sudden pain in my back and legs that I could not move, and I was carried to bed by family members.
I remembered that the week before I had carried many heavy objects and engaged in intense physical activity, which I thought could have caused some sort of injury. My relatives were very worried. They said I could be suffering from a serious spine condition and wanted to take me to an emergency room so that I could be medicated.
I thanked them for their care but told them that they didn’t need to be concerned, and that I would prefer to be treated through Christian Science, which for many years I have relied on whenever I face a condition that needs healing. Then I asked my son to read passages to me from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I felt somewhat calmer and fell asleep. However, when I woke up later in the afternoon, I was still in pain and could not move.
