Dominion over evil
One morning after my husband left for work, many years ago, I took a bicycle ride with our daughter, who was sitting in a child’s seat in back. I had joined a “mother’s-day-out” group so she could play with other children her age. It was her day to visit a friend.
As I pedaled down the street, I noticed an open garage door and prepared to wave if a neighbor was present. I was not prepared for what I saw: Our neighbor was exposing himself and looking directly at me. Shock … disgust … fright … repulsion—all welled up inside me at once as I turned away and sped on down the street. I was afraid to go back home because I would pass him again. Because I knew he had seen me come out of my house, I was afraid he might be awaiting me when I returned. I was just plain afraid!
Our daughter was totally unaware of the incident, and so I dropped her off for two hours of play with her friend. I planned to go back home to spend those two hours praying.
