Touching the Christly hem
Many have looked for, and continue to look for, healing. One woman, desperate for help, said within herself when she saw Christ Jesus, “If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole” (Matthew 9:21). And she was made whole. What does it mean to reach for and touch the Christly, healing hem? It means to awaken to our true spiritual self and be healed, made whole.
Who hasn’t reached for this Christly hem in time of need? The Christ, the true idea of God, is our foundation upon which we build in overcoming the strains and stresses of materiality. This true idea of God, revealing man made in His image and likeness, is a rock to stand on—even in the midst of tremendous winds and waves. This true idea of God is our present perfection.
The Apostle John writes, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God” (I John 3:2). It may sometimes feel like a stretch to reach this level of understanding—to obtain the clear spiritual vision of our present perfection, but in reality this perfection is already established, and through God’s tender love for us, we are enabled to comprehend it. It was established by God before the world ever was. And it has remained established because nothing can be added to nor taken away from perfection.
