Pure shining
If I were a prism and God were the sun,
His goodness would shine through me
in a spectrum of glorious shades.
The soft light of grace would fan into
the colors of patience, honesty,
unselfishness, kindness, meekness, humility.
The radiant burst of joy would be
lively, open, expectant,
filled with wonder, delight, and song.
Father, purify my thought, my outlook,
“create in me a clean heart,”* wash me thoroughly,
for the clearer the prism, the truer the hues.
