The good we can do

[Living Christian Science Today blog, “Lifted higher by the Christ,” Carole Bell, January 17, 2013]

I love the clarity and simplicity of this article. It gives us a purpose each day and the knowledge that we can do the good that we would hope to do.

Our refuge

[“Fear not, little flock,” Vicki Turpen, January 14 & 21, 2013, issue]

Mary Baker Eddy loved nature and refers to it often in her writings, which indicates that nature has wonderful lessons to teach us. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful spiritual insights gained from nature—the confidence the birds have that they will be cared for and that fear is “habitual distrust in God.” We also live in a refuge. “God is our refuge and strength” (Psalms 46:1 ). Just as there are refuges for animals and birds providing all they need, just so God provides for all our needs in the refuge of divine Love.

High efficiency inspiration

When the January 7 Sentinel arrived, I have to confess, the first thing I thought was, “Wow, what’s happened to the Sentinel, it looks pretty thin?” But after spending some quality quiet time reading it, I have to say that in a funny way it reminded me of my new washing machine! Let me explain. My machine came with instructions to use only detergent marked with the letters HE or “High Efficiency” on the label. I was surprised to discover what a small amount of soap was needed to do the job as a result of the detergent being so concentrated. That’s how I feel about the new Sentinel, although it is thinner in appearance, it is completely full of “high efficiency” inspiration!

Spiritual diet

[“A spiritual diet you can stick to,” Sentinel audio chat with Evan Mehlenbacher, December 11, 2012]

This has been a most rewarding discussion and has made a wonderful impression on me and my daughter. We have listened several times and always been blessed with fresh insight. The laughter that we have experienced from Evan Mehlenbacher is indeed a medicine to the soul. So refreshing! God is ever present throughout it all and this gives such profound insight into the humor that I’ve always thought of God as having in abundance. Thank you, Evan, for your precious spirit and insight from your experience. It shines through very clearly, and we have benefited with healing from the words shared. Looking forward to more from you.

We are also filled with gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for providing the Sentinel for us and for the wonderful people behind the scene who make it possible. Thanks Sentinel for all your good work.
