Uppercase or lowercase E?
Twenty-two. That’s the number of times in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures that Mary Baker Eddy refers to Ego, with a capital E. Lowercase: one. Hmm … maybe that denotes importance.
Our cover topic this week “The one Ego” refers to God, divine Mind. And “ego,” well, just think of competing for attention and accolades—whether it’s the wounded pride of warring segments of society, or the less intense scenario of family clashing over who’s right or wrong at the dinner table.
In Science and Health, “I, or Ego” is described, in part, as: “Divine Principle; Spirit; Soul; incorporeal, unerring, immortal, and eternal Mind” (p. 588).
