A HEALING OF SEVERE KNEE PAIN

Over a period of many months, I frequently experienced pain, sometimes quite severe, in one of my knees. Sitting still and climbing up and down stairs were problematic.

I'm very grateful for the healing that came about not only of this condition, but also of some related issues. This is really a story of reformation—of giving up a sense of feeling out of place and ill at ease with others, as well as getting rid of crippling jealousy, envy, and pride. I had to be vigilant to take every opportunity to replace those wrong feelings with God-imparted gratitude, satisfaction, worthiness, humility, generosity, love, and joy. And as I was successful with this, healing came.

One day when I was a luncheon guest at a friend's, I could barely hear the conversation above my struggle with discomfort. Sitting still was very difficult, whereas walking felt normal. So I had vowed to "walk in love" and with Love (see Christian Science Hymnal, No. 139).
