BACK INJURY HEALED
One day about a year and a half ago, I was out running errands and twisted my back, feeling a painful pull and constricted breathing. Although I was uncomfortable, I'd been thinking all week about ideas from the Christian Science Bible Lesson for that week, and it seemed so natural and logical to immediately turn to these thoughts. I was confident that a clear spiritual view of myself would bring healing.
The topic was "Love." That subject always helps me feel cherished, loved, and protected with what sometimes feels like "warm and fuzzy" verses from the Bible and Science and Health.
But that week I had not been getting "warm and fuzzy" feelings so much as a message: "Hey! Love is an active verb. Get busy!" A central point of the Lesson was forgiveness of sin, which I initially balked at, thinking, "I don't have to forgive anything, and I'm not a sinner." Through the years, though, I've learned that if I'm not connecting with a Bible Lesson right away, I've got to dig deeper. It can be easy to gloss over a Lesson and think, "Been there, read that," but I've learned that in each Lesson there are fresh ideas that enrich my life, inspire, and help me find answers to concerns, fears, and problems.
