INJURED THUMB HEALED
Reprinted from Der Herold der Christlichen Wissenschaft (German edition of The Herald of Christian Science)
One evening I was out in the parking lot in front of my house waiting for a friend to arrive. It was winter, and there were patches of ice everywhere. While I was waiting, I stepped on a little hill that was covered with ice and was very slippery. I slipped and fell headlong on the frozen ground.
I tried to catch my fall with my hand, and as a result landed on my thumb and twisted it. Other than that I was fine. But I noticed right away that something was wrong with my thumb. It was very painful and started to swell, until I lost all feeling in it and wasn't able to use my hand anymore.
The first thought that came to me was: Why did this have to happen now? I was all set for my friend, and we didn't want to spend any time with a handicap. I was also leaving on a trip soon.
