PERSISTENT PAIN HEALED

Recently, I completed a commitment as First Reader in my Christian Science branch church. It was a treasured experience, a spiritual adventure, and evidence of divine Love's presence in my life.

About a year after I started reading, I began experiencing intense pain in my right hip, knee, and leg. The pain would move around mainly at night, which made sleeping difficult. I didn't have trouble walking around during the day. But sometimes the pain would flare up, and I became concerned that it would interfere with driving and my normal activities.

A Christian Science practitioner-friend reminded me that the message that was being read each week from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, supports the messenger. We talked about how man's true motive is to glorify God. When I told her my recollection that one of my grandmothers didn't move easily and sat in a chair most of the time, the practitioner shared another helpful thought. We talked about our Father-Mother God. In God's creation there is no human heredity or history, or any other mental suggestion that can limit man's mobility. As a child of God, I could claim my divine inheritance, which includes the goodness and freedom of God's creating.
