FREED FROM KNEE PAIN
This past summer I was spending some time with my family in Colorado. One morning I got up early and went out to hike Buffalo Mountain, a 12,777-foot peak near Silverthorne. I'd done some smaller hikes in the area, but this mountain is considerably taller.
I arrived at the trail head at 6:45 a.m. and set off under a cloudless sky. As I hiked through the beautiful lodgepole pines and up a steep boulder field, I realized that this was one of the more challenging hikes I'd done in quite a while. Coupled with that was the suggestion that hiking at higher altitudes could be more challenging because of thinner air.
As I climbed, I was praying to defend myself from these limiting suggestions. When I hike, I love to think of the joy, energy, and dominion captured by the words of Hymn 55 from the Christian Science Hymnal. It begins:
