MULTIPLE BEE STINGS QUICKLY HEALED

One day a couple of summers ago, a friend and I, who were in charge of our Christian Science branch church's outdoor maintenance program, entered a wooded lot to check on the condition of the trees. We were talking about pruning one of them when all of a sudden I realized I was standing on an underground beehive. The next moment, I ran out of the woods with a large colony of bees in hot pursuit of me. My friend yelled that there were dozens all over me. As I wildly brushed them away, I turned to prayer to quell my initial shock.

A Bible verse popped into mind just then: "Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" (I Cor. 6:19). This immediately enabled me to turn my thoughts away from the acute discomfort. With this spiritual truth in the lead, I quieted down instantly, and began to assert my dominion over the whole incident. Fifteen bees had stung me.

I was confident in relying entirely on Christian Science for help. In many years of turning to it in all kinds of challenges, it had never failed me. As I returned home, I thought about the fear-inducing theories associated with multiple bee stings, including inflammation and allergic reaction, as well as vulnerability to accident and finding fault with our environment. Not to mention self-recrimination for not having been more alert.
