LOVE'S TENDER MERCIES FOR ALL

LOVE January 25–31, 2010

WHEN HEARING THE PHRASE "Christian love," most people probably don't think of the Apostle Paul. However, this week's Christian Science Bible Lesson, titled "Love," briefly explores his life and some of his writings that highlight important teachings on this subject.

This Lesson reminds us from the very beginning that God's love is for everyone. The Golden Text says, "The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works" (Ps. 145:9). Further insight into this passage is gained through another name for God found in Science and Health: "Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation" (p. 332, citation 3). We find a loving relationship exists between Creator and Creation. Just as a parent loves all his or her children, so does our divine Parent.
