LETTING LOVE LEAD THE WAY

WHEN I THINK ABOUT MODELS for living, at the top of the list is the importance of love. Everyone has an intuitive sense of the significance of love, and the vast quantity of material devoted to the subject suggests people are working hard to understand it better and see it more clearly in their lives. I'm certainly no different, and when I've pondered such deep themes, I've gotten the clearest answers when I've let spirituality guide me.

To me, the most spiritual sense of love is given in these words of the apostle John: "God is love" (I John 4:8). It's only three words, but I've found it to be one of the deepest and most powerful statements in the Bible. It indicates that the very quality that all humanity strives after is found in none other than God Himself.

Of course, the question has naturally followed, How do I find God? John doesn't leave us without a response: "If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us" (4:12).
