EYE INJURY HEALED

Not long ago I was practicing with my women's tennis team, going through a number of doubles drills. We were in the middle of a long rally, when one woman on the other side of the net hit the ball rather forcefully at my partner who then just missed the ball, deflecting it off her racket's frame with equal force directly into my eye. Because we were standing so close together, I didn't even have time to blink before the impact.

Immediately, I began to pray. I felt a lot of pain, and there was even more concern from my teammates. I had a hard time concentrating, so I just began quietly repeating very simple spiritual ideas that I'd learned in Christian Science since a child. For example, "God is All, God is good, God loves me, God never causes accidents, divine Mind is in control, and therefore, I am not a victim."

All these statements are simple, practical, and powerful truths from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and they emphasized my identity as a spiritual reflection of God. Over the years I've been able to prove many times that when I hold to this spiritual understanding, the might of Spirit banishes fear and disease-filled thoughts, and my true being, whole and intact, begins to come to light.
