Next in our biweekly series on how people have nurtured their public practice of Christian Science.

TO USE LOVE'S TOOLS

WOW, I THOUGHT , whatever that person does, I want to do it.

I was eight years old at the time. Mom had been ill in bed, hardly able to think when she reached for the phone and called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for her. She was on the phone for only a short time, but when she hung up, she was on her feet and completely healed.

I don't know what the practitioner said, but from then on I wanted to be a healer. Somehow I felt that being a Christian Science practitioner would be the best work I could ever do. Later, having experienced the healing results of prayer myself, I began to understand more of how "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16).
