LAST YEAR, BBC public affairs commentator John Humphrys moderated a forum on the topic "Is God a Delusion?" before 2,000 school and college students in Central Hall in London. The gathering was prompted by the current surge of books, TV documentaries, and classroom and Internet debates on the role of atheism in current society.
