HEALED OF PAIN AND GROWTH IN HEEL

One day last year during the springtime, I noticed that my heel was a bit tender. But I gave it little heed and headed out for a brisk walk that evening. The following day, the pain in my heel was more persistent, and I curtailed my nightly walking. However, much to my dismay, I discovered that the pain didn't diminish when I was sitting or lying down.

As I was used to doing with any physical or other need, I started to pray. The opening phrase of a hymn began playing in my head, "How firm a foundation ..." (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 123). I reasoned that the Christ, Truth, was my "firm foundation," which could never be disabled, discomforted, or diseased. Looking up the hymn, I saw that the second verse offered a perfect anchor for my prayer:
