HEALED AFTER BIKE ACCIDENT

In August 2007, after returning home from a long road trip, I decided to stretch my legs and go out for a bike ride. We live in the country, and I set out on a familiar route that I'd been down many times before. Traveling at top speed, I hit some loose gravel, lost control, and crashed, landing forcefully on my shoulder and arm and wrenching my neck. As I lay on the ground, my first response was to pray.

I'd just returned from my yearly Christian Science association meeting, and the inspiration and profound Christly love expressed that day came to my thought. I knew that same love was present right then to meet my immediate need. Since God was All and Love itself, harmony was all I could experience. In the perfect good that attended God's presence, there was no possibility of accident or chance occurrence. The only power or force that existed was God's omnipotence. Getting up, I refrained from looking for signs of injury, and was able to get back on my bike and ride home.

Although there hadn't been immediate pain, when I got home, I began to feel uncomfortable and a little bit shaken. I was so grateful that when I walked in the door, my family showed compassion but at the same time made no fuss. I took a bath and went to bed, continuing to pray for myself.
