HEALED QUICKLY OF A PUNCTURE WOUND

WORKING IN the field of construction can present some hazardous situations, especially in the winter months when snow and ice collect. Last winter, several co-workers and I were building an extension on a home. At the back of the house,

I was carefully maneuvering my way through the melting snow and around a scrap wood pile, when my boot slipped off a wet board. I involuntarily stuck my arms out to break my fall. As I picked myself up, I pulled a large board off my hand and saw that a protruding rusty nail had punctured my palm. Although the pain was pretty intense, there wasn't a lot of bleeding.

Having grown up as a Christian Scientist, I immediately knew that God was right there with me and that because of this there was no reason for alarm. I calmly made my way to the front of the property and asked a co-worker for a bandage. Because we didn't have access to the house, and there was no place for me to clean the wound, initially I became concerned about the possibility of infection. But I recalled a healing from my childhood, when I'd had a similar incident with a nail in my foot. At that time I'd prayed with my parents to understand that God's care for me did not include pain, inflammation, infection, or disease of any kind. I was instantaneously healed in that situation, and I was confident I could expect the same result now.
