LETTERS

Just a P.S. to the occasional pro and con letters published in the Sentinel about the use of various Bible translations for the Golden Text and Responsive Reading in the Christian Science Bible Lessons. While some have seen the issue in the context of a controversy, many others have found it to be a needed and even refreshing conversation in our movement. It has provided an opportunity (sometimes humbling) to learn to listen to each other. To discover that deeply honest and committed Christian Scientists can have different preferences while having the same Principle. To think more deeply about what the Church Manual does and does not require.

The Christian Science Board of Directors has learned and grown in this process just as others have. For example, we have reassessed our approach to doing business with Bible publishers and are not using those who misrepresent Christian Science. And we've learned of some branch churches that have reassessed their approach to limiting church services to only one Bible translation. All of us will continue to learn and grow ... and trust divine Love to lead in the way that most promotes the progress of our Cause.
