ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE

I HAVE A VIVID CHILDHOOD MEMORY of my older teenage brother being healed in Christian Science of the effects of a serious accident that threatened the loss of his eyesight. I was eight years old at the time, and this healing made such an impression on me that I decided I eventually wanted to be a Christian Science practitioner.

My mother was a dedicated Christian Science practitioner, and I couldn't fail to observe her readiness, willingness, and ability to respond to calls for help at all hours. I also had good Sunday School teachers, as well as many mentors from my church in Wellington, New Zealand.

My final year in Sunday School was at The Mother Church since I was spending a year studying at Brandeis University, near Boston. I remember a conversation I had at the time with an individual I highly respected at the church. He asked me what I wanted to do with my life, and I responded, "I want to be a Christian Science practitioner." Without hesitation he said, "You will be, if that's what you want."
