FAITH IN GOD HEALS INTERNAL GROWTH

2005 was a tumultuous year for me. In addition to working full time and caring for a house and pets, I was praying for my son stationed in Iraq. I also assisted my mother with a move to a new apartment. This included helping Mom distribute and sell many items, as well as preparing her home for sale. In the middle of this activity, I unexpectedly found myself in temporary quarters for three months while my home underwent extensive repairs.

In December, I discovered an internal growth in the area above my abdomen. I didn't have it diagnosed, but was alarmed and believed the condition to be considered serious and to require immediate attention. I felt the need for a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me about this, especially at such a challenging time.

The practitioner's love for God and Christian Science permeated our conversations. She was so kind to me, and generous with her time. Each night after work when I called her, she explained thoroughly the spiritual truths she'd been working with in prayer for me that day. She assured me that I couldn't suffer as a result of any labor of love. Mrs. Eddy's statement that "whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself" became a constant in my thoughts (Science and Health, p. 385).
