COUNTERACTING TERRORISM

PRAYER FOR THE WORLD: WHAT YOU CAN DO

How do you pray about the terrorism in our world today? In an ongoing series, "Counteracting terrorism," the Sentinel and spirituality.com are exploring answers to that question. The following excerpts are from a recent conversation on Sentinel Radio with SCOTT PRELLER, a Christian Science practitioner from Andover, Massachusetts. He spoke with Sentinel Radio managing editor Russ Gerber.

There are some very good people on the front lines doing some strenuous work. But there are a lot of us who are not literally in the trenches, not sitting at a bargaining table, we're not in a high political office. So are the rest of us just stuck on the sidelines?

I think that's one of the challenges, that we're made to feel like we're on the sidelines— when in fact we're all very much involved. This world belongs to all of us, and what we do matters. I know many people see things going on in the news and just feel a great sadness. They wonder what they can do about it.
