ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

TAKING THAT SPIRITUAL LEAP

Next in our biweekly series on how people have nurtured their public practice of Christian Science.

The desire to be a healer found its way into my heart as a young girl. The deep and tender love Christian Science includes, and the healing it brings, were always precious to me. But for whatever reason, I buried that early desire deep down and never told anyone about it.

Meanwhile, I received a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and over several years rapidly worked my way up to the position of director of engineering for an international manufacturing company. This was a wonderfully challenging position, with employees I loved, and there was no reason I couldn't have been there for as long as I liked.

During these formative years, I also grew in my love for God, for myself, and for others; I studied and practiced Christian Science more deeply; cherished the healings I heard about in church and read about in the Christian Science periodicals; and became convinced that my life was the unfolding of God's plan, not just mine.
