GENTLED AND HEALED BY LOVE
Years ago, when my brother was disabled for some time, his caregiver (who had also been his friend) took all of his savings, through power of attorney. My husband and I became aware of this and, with my brother's consent, took over the management of his affairs and properties.
A short time later, this man threatened our lives and that of my brother's subsequent caregiver. This situation seemed to make me forget something I'd learned from practicing the teachings of Christian Science—that since man is God's child, there is in reality no such thing as a criminal mind.
In haste to return to our home after one of our visits with my brother, I stumbled and fell on his brick walk, injuring my foot. Instantly it became clear to me that fear was trying to control me by throwing me off balance. The pain was extreme, and my foot became discolored and swollen. As soon as we got into the car for our long drive home, I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. My husband and I traveled a while, and then spent the night along the way.
