GOD'S LAW OF LOVE ENDS INTERNAL PAIN
It was the middle of the night on a long transoceanic flight, when the pilot announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've just passed the point of no return. We're now dedicated to our destination. We won't—can't for any reason—return to where we started."
Little did I know then how helpful this brief incident would be to me some time later when I needed its lessons. In the meantime, I'd become an earnest student of Christian Science. During the next few years, our family faced many challenges, including a debilitating disease that was deemed incurable, severe injuries, pneumonia. Yet as a result of praying with what I was learning about God—His goodness, His almightiness, and His unstoppable love for His children—each difficulty was healed. Also, I took Primary class instruction in Christian Science, and soon was helping others prove the healing power of prayer. Now I was at the point of committing my life to the full-time practice of Christian healing.
Around this time, I began experiencing sharp internal pains. They began coming frequently, each more painful than the last. Prior to this, I had dealt with some discomfort, but to a much lesser degree. One day while driving a rental car a thousand miles from home, a sudden attack was so intense that I had to pull over and stop. Fear engulfed me, as thoughts of "dangerous" and "life-threatening" flooded in. I remember thinking, "Here I am committed to healing others, and I can't even help myself. I've come too far in my understanding of God to give it up, but have I come far enough to meet this?"
