THE FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST, SCIENTIST, ANNOUNCES SECOND PHASE OF STRATEGIC PLAN

WILL INCLUDE UPDATING MASTER PLAN FOR BOSTON CAMPUS

Boston, MA—The First Church of Christ, Scientist, today [October 16] announced the second phase of its long-term strategic planning process, begun in 2003. Having achieved the first phase objective of consolidation of operations and personnel, the Church is now prepared to move forward to update the Master Plan for its 14-acre Boston campus. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, will use this lengthy process as an opportunity to enhance the public space and make the Plaza a more attractive and welcoming destination.

"As a Church, we're in the business of spiritual transformation, of healing," said Nathan Talbot, chairman of the Christian Science Board of Directors, the Church's governing body. "Our objective is quite simple—to devote our resources to that mission."

The Church's Treasurer, Ned Odegaard, characterized the Church's financial condition as "stable, with substantial assets and no debt."
