SWOLLEN FACE HEALED QUICKLY THROUGH PRAYER

One Tuesday afternoon, after going to the chemistry lab, I went home and called a friend to go for a run. I was in the graduate program at Tulane University, and my friend and I lived close to each other, a short distance from Audubon Park in New Orleans.

We met up and had an inspiring and spiritually uplifting run together, chatting as we jogged. Afterward, I left my friend at the end of his street and continued home. But when I walked into my apartment, I was startled to notice that my face felt puffy and swollen. There was also swelling in my throat, and I became fearful that it was going to get worse.

At this point in my life, I had been devoting myself to an in-depth study of Christian Science. Prior to this, I had often felt removed from God's care. It was as though I had a separate existence outside Him. Now, I was so grateful to feel closer to God, and to know that the Christ, the divine presence, is always with us—including with my friend and me on our run, blessing each of us in our expression of vitality and fluid activity, qualities of the Life that is God.
