YOU HAVE TO BE HONEST...
A look back at overcoming an eating disorder
Often when praying for healing, I've realized that the first obstacle to overcome is fear. Many years ago I had an experience that showed me that overcoming fear meant I had to trust completely in God and know that His power is in absolute control of my life.
In elementary school, I was a chubby kid who was often made fun of. Being heavier and less athletic than the other kids in school was extremely difficult and really lowered my self-esteem.
In junior high school, the summer between sixth and seventh grades, I finally slimmed down. This change gave me a confidence I didn't want to lose. As a result, I became very self-conscious about my body. I constantly ran and exercised because I was afraid of gaining back the weight I had naturally lost.
