PRAYER HEALS BACK INJURY

My husband and I were on vacation at Amelia Island Plantation, attending the Women's Tennis Association annual tournament. Late on a Saturday afternoon as the matches were ending, we ran to board a shuttle bus that would take us back to our crowded parking lot. In our haste, we boarded the wrong bus, and asked the driver to make a quick stop. Running to get off, I fell on my back on the stairs, and ended up in the street.

The pain from the fall was excruciating, but I immediately declared mentally that God was right there with me, and I knew that somehow I would manage to stand up, which I did with my husband's help. I was grateful that the friends we were with had not seen the fall, but arrived just moments later. One friend, whose car was close by, drove us to our car, which was parked some distance away. As I prayed with the truth from the Bible that we live, move, and have our being in God (see Acts 17:28), I saw the need to refute the possibility of experiencing an accident—of being cut off from God's infinite care—and to get rid of the fear of injury.

My husband was able to get me back to our condo and onto the bed, but because of the pain I wasn't able to move. We then called a Christian Science practitioner to support our prayer. She quoted this comforting Bible passage from the book of Nahum: "What do ye imagine against the Lord? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time" (1:9).
