ANYONE CAN BE A HEALER

I HONORED MY 'BET' WITH GOD

I WAS MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS, which in 1995 was creating CD-ROMs. I had been reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy for only a few years, and the truths in this book had turned my life around.

When I first started reading Science and Health, I thought of myself as an alcoholic, drug addict, and a smoker. After reading this book, I realized that I had forgotten for months to drink, do drugs, or smoke. This really impressed me because I had agreed to read the book only to prove that it didn't work.

The CD-ROM business was doing very well, but I kept "hearing"—feeling urged by God in my thoughts—that I should advertise in The Christian Science Journal as a practitioner of Christian Science, which would would mean a full-time commitment to healing. I treated those thoughts like a wrong number on the phone, but they kept coming. Over time, it became harder and harder to ignore them.
