MALARIA, OFFICE RELATIONSHIP HEALED

A few years ago I developed the symptoms of malaria. I battled spiritually and mentally against the condition, praying as I had learned through my study of Christian Science. I had come to understand that disease and its symptoms are illusions produced by the mistaken conviction that life is material and therefore subject to illness.

A statement in Science and Health helped me confront the disease. Mary Baker Eddy wrote: "Disease has no intelligence with which to move itself about or tochange itself from one form to another. If disease moves, mind, not matter, moves it; therefore be sure that you move it off" (p. 419). I continued to pray along these lines.

One day when the symptoms flared up, I was forced to leave my office. While at home, an angel-like thought came to mind—to focus less on my physical condition and more on any duties that needed to be fulfilled. I was serving as the clerk of my church, and two significant reports were due. So I settled down to write the reports. Surprisingly, by the time I concluded writing them, I discovered that the fever was gone. I felt very happy and liberated.
