Lilacs at midnight
This week, Senior Writer Marilyn Jones sat down with Christian Science teacher and practitioner BETTY JENKS to talk about the question "How do you know it's God speaking?"
BETTY , you've been listening for God's guidance and assurance for many years now. In fact, responding to God's voice is the basis not only for making decisions in your own life, but in your practice of Christian Science healing. So how do you know when God is communicating with you?
I think the answer is in two words—voice recognition. You always recognize a voice that you know well. Each voice is distinct, like a fingerprint. But why do you know that voice? It's because you have heard it so many times. Maybe it's your mother, your best friend, your brother. You would know that voice anywhere. It is the voice of someone you trust because you know that person.
