Through a spiritual lens

'LOVE ENRICHES THE NATURE'

I took these photos at gift-giving time at a family gathering last Christmas in our home in Brazil. They are favorites of mine because they show a lot of joy and affection. In our family we don't demonstrate as much love during the year as we do at Christmas. That's why I enjoy Christmas so much. It's a time when people are less afraid to be affectionate and show how much they really care about one another.

One of my favorite passages in Science and Health says: "Human affection is not poured forth vainly, even though it meet no return. Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it" (p. 57). I believe it's always a good time to throw away timidity and show our love to all those around us—and through our loving, express God's love.
