A healing of guilt and of injury

Originally published in Der Christian Science Herold

We have seven children, and at Christmastime we all get together. One Christmas Eve afternoon we all drove out to the country with our sleds.

After a walk, we drove up to a slight hill, and I said, "Oh, we could give the younger ones a little extra fun and get out the sleds." My husband said, "No, don't do it. We should go home instead." But I said, "No, I'm going to do it!" I was a bit overexcited. And I was the first one to go down the hill.

There was an elevation where you flew a bit through the air. You couldn't see it from the top. But it went well; it was fun for me, although it was a little difficult. I called from below, "Come on down!" So one by one my children came down, and each was enthusiastic. The last daughter, however, later told me that just before she set off, she had a clear intuition, "Don't do it." But she started down, since we were all by now at the bottom. She said she learned from the situation and will never again ignore that inner voice.
