A practical time-management tool

AFTER YEARS OF PRIDING MYSELF on being very efficient—able to juggle numerous jobs and clients at the same time; meeting deadlines ahead of schedule; having a very organized desk; completing every task on my daily agendas, and doing it well—I found myself in unfamiliar territory.

The death of my mother, who was also my business partner, had turned my world upside down. I was overwhelmed by grief, disoriented, unmotivated. I lost control of time. I was running around all day, accomplishing nothing. Suddenly there was no stream of income, and I needed a place to live.
