When my daughter Kirstene was six, her school headmaster telephoned me. He asked if she had ever experienced vagueness or mental vacancy. When I said no, he suggested I come to the school. She wasn't acting normally. He said I needed to take her to a doctor immediately.
When I met Kirstene, she gave no sign of recognition and didn't speak. As I held her hand, it was limp and lifeless. But she was able to walk to the car and get into it unaided.
As soon as we started for home, I turned to God for help. I knew that He was with us and that He could heal this child. So as I drove, I reminded her of the very first things that she had learned in Sunday School. That God is Love. That God loved her. That He had made her in His image. This meant that she was God's own child, and was safe in His care.
