A healing at the beach
My name is Nathan. I live in Queensland, Australia, and I like going camping with my family.
Last year we camped right on a beach. During the day, we swam in the surf and played at the water's edge. One afternoon, small marine animals called bluebottles washed ashore in the waves. These creatures have a tiny bubble that sits on top of the water. They also have long stinging tentacles that float under the water.
We had been playing in the surf for most of the day, when suddenly I felt a terrible sting. I began crying with pain. I ran to my mum and she unwrapped a blue tentacle from around my arm. As she did this, she told me that God was in control. He was taking care of me. I was God's child and could not be hurt. I could be calm. I could feel God's love all around me.
Then my mum told me about a sentence in Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health. It says, "All of God's creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible" (p. 514 ). This helped me see that even a bluebottle could not hurt me. It was actually one of God's creatures, just like I was. I lived in harmony with it, and it lived in harmony with me.
God was in control. He was taking care of me.
We talked about Bible stories that had animals. Daniel was safe while he was in a den of lions. Paul was not hurt when a snake bit him. This made me feel better. I knew that God was protecting me, too.
Before long, the pain disappeared. I was able to go straight back and play in the sand with my brother and sister.
