Smoking habit overcome; hernia healed
It was in 1949 that I was introduced to Christian Science, when a friend gave me a copy of the Sentinel. This led me to borrow Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
One evening, I settled down with the book, lit up a cigarette, and read the first chapter, entitled "Prayer." That was the last time I smoked.
Some time later, after I had joined the local Church of Christ, Scientist, and had learned more of Christian Science, I realised that I had been healed of smoking simply by reading that chapter called "Prayer." I had been a heavy smoker from early youth, enjoyed smoking, and never thought of giving it up. It gave me up!
