Safe in God's love including on the ski slope

Fear conquered

SNOW BLANKETED the trees, cabin, and ground. Softly and persistently it covered and recovered the limbs and snowcapped needles of the giant sequoias. I was standing on ten feet of snowpack, looking over to the cabin we were renting for the holiday weekend. The second-story windows peeked out between a roof topped by six or eight feet of snow and the snow hiding the first floor.

The scene reminded me of how God's love gently and completely embraces everyone. His protecting presence covers us completely, just as a blanket of snow covers the landscape. No one is outside God's embrace. We are clothed in His love, armored by His love, even more thoroughly than the trees were clothed in snow.

The calm silence inspired me to listen to God's messages of harmony, joy, spiritual dominion, fearlessness, goodness. I felt His love at that moment and in all we did each day of that trip.
