Stress-free parenting? It's possible
"The thought of many hours in the camper with our lively brood raised my tension level just a bit."
Ever felt stretched to the breaking point? Tense to tears? Or had a crisis in the office and a deadline looming? Or a house full of children clamoring for attention? I know something about the latter.
Children can be demanding, noisy, and busy. Sometimes the adage "Children should be seen and not heard" may seem like a good idea.
I wonder if Jesus' disciples saw it that way. According to Scripture, they rebuked the people (parents?) who brought young children to the Master for his blessing (see Mark 10:13-16). Evidently they thought that the children would be troublesome, but Jesus had a different point of view. He welcomed the children compassionately, even lifting them up in his arms.
