Divine Love eliminates chest pain

On Thanksgiving morning several years ago, I woke with a feeling of tightness and dull pain in my chest; I was short of breath and dizzy. I immediately reached out to God in prayer, and continued in prayer throughout the day while attending church as usual and participating in family festivities. My prayers were intended mainly to gain a better sense of God's allness and presence and of my oneness with Him as His child. I sought treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, who immediately spoke to me of the need to handle fear and reminded me of this passage in the Bible: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (II Tim. 1:7). As we prayed together over the next several days, my fear was eliminated.

I continued to pray to gain a better understanding of God's allness, as Science and Health explains: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (p. 468). I was acquiring a better understanding of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God and seeing how this applied in my life.

After several months of dedicated prayerful study, during which I gained a clearer perception of the divine power and of God's great love for His man, I again sought treatment from a dear Christian Scientist friend who was in the healing practice. We talked for more than an hour, and I felt an overwhelming certainty of the presence of divine Love.
