SKIING—WITH GOD

A few years ago I decided to go to an overnight camp in Maine. I was extremely nervous. I was thinking, "What if I don't make any friends? What if I get homesick?" Well, all my fears and doubts were put to rest the second I arrived. Everyone seemed happy and excited to be there.

One of my favorite activities was water-skiing. I really enjoyed every aspect of the sport. But, in order to pass intermediate water-skiing, I had to wave my arm while holding the rope tow between my knees. I found this stunt extremely difficult. Instead of turning to God for support, I let frustration and annoyance get in the way.

After many tries I decided it might be good to stop and go back to the beach. The water-ski counselor leaned over the side of the boat and said, "Try it one more time, Hillary, and this time remember that with God all things are possible." Right then my exasperation left, and I felt at one with God. I wasn't scared or even nervous. As the boat increased speed to pull me out of the water, I thought about that idea over and over again. And I was able to hold the bar between my knees! I felt so happy and had a great feeling of accomplishment. This is only a small instance where Christian Science has helped me, but it just goes to show you that it doesn't matter how big or small your problem is, because God is there no matter what.
